Canister vacuum cleaners, the vacuum nozzle is attached to the end of the wand and then to the body via a hose. This body contains the engine, filter and dust bag.

Advantages:

It has great operability. Because it's a hose, it cleans stairs or blinds etc. well. It also goes to a lot of places that a stand-up vacuum can't. You just need to move the wand, not the whole vacuum. And the power cord usually disappears into the canister vacuum's case, making things neater.

Also, it is very quiet. If you have small children at home and are sensitive to sound, then canister is a good choice. Because it only works at 60-65 decibels.

Canister vacuums generally have powerful motors for better suction and cleaning power. You can also choose between bagless cans and bagged models.

It is capable of accommodating high-efficiency filtration systems built into or on canister, especially those including HEPA filters. Such as the Miele complete C3 series, with a HEPA air cleaning system, it can effectively prevent particles from escaping.

Disadvantages:

Its design is bulky and requires a lot of space to place it. If there are many nooks and crannies, you also need to bend over to vacuum, which can make your back hurt.

Upright Vacuum Cleaners: Contains an electric brush head, dust container, handle and flexible plastic hose attachment.

Advantages:

Upright vacuums can be well placed and stored anywhere there is space.

They are bagless, which makes them easier to clean and empty after sweeping.

Its brush is electric. For carpet cleaning efficiency will become very high.

Disadvantages:

Compared to the Canister, it's a little bit louder. The operating frequency is probably higher than 70 decibels. It can't reach all the nooks and crannies. It's hard for it to get into tight spaces. It's also not suitable for cleaning stairs and it's also relatively heavy.

Summary:

When choosing canister or upright vacuum cleaners, you need to think about where you want to put it. Another thing is that you need to consider the layout of your home, whether there are any stairs that need to be cleaned. In the end, when choosing between the two, it is still up to you. Your own needs prevail.
