Shark vacuums are still the choice of many people today, they are affordable, powerful and easy to use. But while vacuuming, the power cord can wiggle around with your movements, which can cause it to wear out or break. Replacing a power cord is a hassle, and you need some basics. If you find it troublesome, go to a professional for repairs.
Damaged power cord can affect vacuum suction and power delivery, so you need to always check that it is in good condition. If you find that the power cord is broken, you need to replace it with a new power cord.
First, take a closer look at the damaged area on the power cord to see if it appears on the plug, in the middle, or on the switch. If it's just surface wear, just wrap it with electrical tape.
The entire power cord needs to be replaced.
Remove the old power cord
First, disconnect all the electricity from the vacuum cleaner and unplug the plug from the socket. Remove the removable accessories and remove all the screws from the bottom cover. You will see a protective plate holding the wires in place with a lot of screws on it. Remember the disassembly order, it is best to take a picture or draw it for easy reassembly. Loosen all the screws and the old wires can be removed.
Install a new power cord
Make sure it's the same size as the old power cord and long enough. You have the photo you just took to make the installation faster. Flush the new power cord against the motor cord and secure the new power cord with clips, fasteners, and screws on the damaged wire. Peel 1 inch of wire insulation and housing from the new power cord with a knife, do not cut it. Use pliers to connect the color-coded power cord to the matching motor cord. Make sure the new power cord is in the same position as the current power cord and the connectors are aligned correctly. Reassemble all other parts you removed, cover the bottom cover, and tighten the screws.
